The Clock House is a Grade II listed building in the heart of Ripley, Surrey, now being reimagined for a new chapter of life. Long underused and beginning to fall into disrepair, it is being approached not as a development opportunity, but as a building to be cared for. Our client sees themselves as a custodian of this piece of Ripley’s heritage, with a responsibility to preserve its character while ensuring it remains active, useful and relevant.

Our proposals focus on repair, adaptation and thoughtful reuse. The aim is to bring the whole building back into occupation, stitching together its fragmented spaces and introducing uses that can support both the village and the building over the long term. We are working with the existing fabric wherever possible, using light-touch, reversible interventions that respect the listed structure while allowing it to support contemporary patterns of use.

We are in ongoing dialogue with the local council, who have responded positively to the direction of the scheme. Early feedback has recognised the value of returning The Clock House to the community, with a mix of uses that can animate the high street, support local business and secure a sustainable future for this important historic landmark.
