The brief combined a full refurbishment of the existing house with a three storey extension containing two studies, and a separate studio in the garden.

The extension is built in brick. The facade was developed through careful setting out, with the design of the brickwork resolved in detail ahead of construction. The detail is concentrated at the heads of the openings.

The scheme was taken through planning, where the case was made for the mass of the extension and the quality of its construction. JHA delivered RIBA Stages 0 to 5, from strategic definition through to construction.
