This four-storey townhouse was in poor condition upon purchase — rising damp on the lower ground floor, water ingress from the roof, a single bathroom buried in the cold rear wing.

The proposal opens the lower ground floor into a single generous space: light, cross-ventilated, connected to the garden. All rooms were renovated. A loft extension was added. The rear wing was entirely rebuilt to a higher thermal and structural standard, with insulation installed throughout — wall, floor, and roof.

The re-adjustment of floor levels unlocked a new fluidity between spaces, increased ceiling heights, and level access throughout. The bespoke ink-stained table and pivot window anchor the ground floor. Natural stone, white-oiled oak, lime plaster. Historic fabric retained wherever possible — bricks and structure reused to lower both the carbon and cost impact.
